Quinta de la Rosa
jancisrobinson.com 16.5/20 "50% Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Franca, 15% Tinta Roriz, and 5% Sousão all from La Rosa’s estate, mostly from the Lamelas vineyard planted by Tim Bergqvist more than 30 years ago. Matured for 12 months in mostly used (70%) French oak casks. Very dark, almost black, with a purplish rim. Rich, generous and dark-fruited, open and fragrant and with unmistakable Douro character, which for me is not sweetness of fruit but an impression of rocks – the dark/stony character – and the local cistus wild flowers, which gives a subtle floral/herbal quality. This is juicy, medium-bodied and with already quite smooth tannins. A recipe for early drinking but with enough structure to age for a few years. Nicely dry finish on a wine that is hard not to like. Textura Wines
jancisrobinson.com 16/20 "Jaen, Alfrocheiro, Tinto Roriz and Touriga Nacional from different vineyards. Gentle and lively – bitter red-cherry flavours. Nice grip on the end together with a certain sourness." Parker 90/10 "... a sensation of a little more ripeness despite the lower alcohol. It’s from a warmer year and has a different quality of tannins. It's also a blend of the younger vines and was fermented in stainless steel and matured in used oak barrels and vats. It's slightly more rustic and has a bitter twist in the finish."

Quinta de la Rosa
Juicy star Douro red from the hugely talented Sophia Bergqvist. Touriga Nacional & Franca, Tinto Roriz et al. eRobertParker "When first seen, this was a big overachiever... it is still beautiful. The pure and intense fruit is simply delicious, but the structure means that this doesn't just seem like a candied fruit bomb... a cut above what wines like this often achieve. It's a "summer red" style, but it adds a bit of distinction. I continue to love this delicious Tinto..."

Quinta de la Rosa
Jancisrobinson.com 17.5/20 “30% Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Franca, and 40% old-vine field blend. Foot-trodden in granite lagares for an evening before being transferred to stainless-steel vats for fermentation. Matured for 20 months in new (50%) and used (50%) French oak casks. Very dark core with purplish rim. Intensely aromatic with pure black fruit and Touriga's floral aromas including violets and also bergamot. Lightly spiced and beautifully fragrant yet not lacking the dark, rocky Douro signature. Firm but already smooth tannins with a suggestion of dark chocolate on the finish. A finely modulated wine that you could drink fairly soon but also keep for a decade or more. Polished but still unmistakably Douro. (JH)”
