Cote Rotie Mollard 2021 Dom. Gerard
This 2021 Le Mollard was a standout in the whole of this difficult vintage after our extensive tastings in January 2024. Outsclassing Xavier's La Landonne and many other producers top wines of the vintage also. A sleeper. With the 2019 and 2020 vintages we have started to build an enthusiatic following. A tiny allocation as always. A couple of magnums also, if you are quick.
The very best vigneron make beautiful wines, whatever the vintage. One of our favourite bottles from Xavier. An outsatnding wine.

97% Syrah (1982-85), 3-5% Viognier from gneiss soils on Mollard, 20-33% destemmed, 2-3 day cool maceration at 10-12°C, 17-18 day vinification at up to 25°-26°C, light cap punchings only, aged 33% new, 50% 4-year 228-litre casks (4 casks altogether) 24 months, unfined, unfiltered, 1,200 bottles.

"....steady red, quite dark. The nose gives a neat channel of red fruits, raspberry with dried herbs, ash smoke. The palate opens tenderly, with a soft richness, has Pinot links, continues with a stylish, sure hand. The tannins are neatly tucked in. This is promising for an elegant, spherical, interesting Rôtie, has a perfumed touch with terroir notes, while the aftertaste of violets is sympa. It hits the line well, with style in the fruit. Serve in a large glass, off we go. From 2027 until 2046-48. Tasted Feb 2023",
Delivery
You can choose to have your order delivered or arrange click and collect in store (more info below). Delivery is FREE on orders of £60 or more (Cambridge and surrounds) and £120 or more (UK wide) to a single address in mainland Great Britain.
We normally aim for next day delivery as far as possible (Monday – Friday) on orders placed before midday. Orders placed in the afternoon will be processed the morning after, on a next day service. Orders placed from Friday midday until Sunday will be processed and made ready for dispatch the following Monday. This may take longer if stock needs to be collected from one more locations.
Customers should receive notification from our couriers by text when their order is en route.
Unfortunately, issues in the supply chain can mean longer than normal delivery times may be experienced.
